Error description

  • The function - string_from_dfloat_noexp() - would trigger a
SIGSEGV error due to a buffer overrun error.

* USERS AFFECTED: InfoSphere Information Server 8.1 Parallel job
*      using Transformer function DFloatToStringNoExp().
****************************************************************
* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Using DFloatToStringNoExp() function (in
*      Orchestrate (Parallel Engine's formal name), the function
*      name is string_from_dfloat_noexp()) occasionally trigger
*      Segmentation Violation errors (SIGSEGV).
****************************************************************
* RECOMMENDATION:  Install the patch associated with this APAR.
*      FORCE COMPILE all parallel jobs after installing the
*      patch.
****************************************************************

Problem conclusion

  • Use a local buffer created from stack to perform conversions.
Add a warning message if buffer overruns.

Temporary fix

  • There is no temporary fix.

Comments

  • This is a prior fix for 7.5 (ecase 89228) that was not
propagated to 8.x platform.
