Error description

  • Oracle Enterprise stage (hash partitioned) reject to sequential
file and ODBC Enterprise stage(hash partitioned) reject to
    sequential file -
creates a warning on a sequential reject file
when the previous stage is hash partitioned. - A sequential
operator cannot preserve the partitioning of the parallel data
    set on input port 0.
Setting the preserve partitioning in the operator does not
    remove the warning.

Other operators may exhibit the same behavior.

Local fix

  • Use Message Handler to downgrade the warning to an information
message so that job is not aborted when warning limit is
    reached.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
IIS Suite Version: 8.1.0.0 to 8.1.0.1
    Tiers: Engine
    Operating System: All
    Component: oracle-ee

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
Oracle operator with reject link does not set Preserve
Partitioning flag correctly. When Preserve Partitioning is set
to Clear, the operator would still propagate partitioning,
sometimes causing downstream sequential stages to log a warning.

    ****************************************************************
    RECOMMENDATION:
    Install patch_JR37461
    ****************************************************************

Problem conclusion

  • Fixed the operator to use Propagate as the default value for
    Preserve Partitioning.
