• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Designer intermittently freezes during referring files under an
  OS directory when there are pipes in the directory.
  
  This occurs when they try to see files in an OS directory from
  Designer (see configuration file in job property, files in
  sequential file stage...).
  

Local fix

• Not place pipe's file in a directory where Designer refers

  Browsing server-side sequential files was hanging on directories
  containing named pipes (fifos).

  This is an AIX only fix - install
  patch_JR37122_server_aix_8100-1

Problem conclusion

• The implementation of the AIX server side sequential file
  browser was blocking when enumerating directories containing
  named pipes.  The entire file gathering aspect of this
  functionality required re-writing to ignore named pipes, which
  prevents an open access from making the blocking call.
