JR36822: IS81 SERVER OCI JOBS FAIL WITH 'OCI FETCHED TRUNCATED DATA' WHEN NON 7-BIT CHARACTERS ARE READ FROM ORACLE (UTF8)

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• A server side IS81 Oracle OCI job generates 'OCI Fetched
  truncated data' warnings in the D/S LOg and fails to return the
  correct data.
  
  The Oracle DB is UTF-8 (AL32UTF8) and the returned data is in
  UTF-8 format. The problem is caused when the returned string's
  byte length (not character length) exceeds the column's size
  defined in D/S Server.
  
  The problem is caused by an incorrect buffer size within the D/S
  OCI plugin. DataStage Server stores data as UTF-8 on NLS enabled
  D/S systems and the column size is defined in characters, and
  additionally, the D/S Server does not impose column sizes during
  normal processing. The OCI plugin is taking the column size as
  bytes rather than characters when defining its buffer(s).
