Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
DataStage users performing a DSX import
    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
Importing a DSX file that has a large number of references to
the same Data Element (Typically "String or "Number") can
cause the process to run out of memory, which will abort the
DSX import. The error reported may differ, but customers have
reported seeing the error "Mapping failed to copy attributes:
JobDefn -> DSJobDef (EObject: null, JobDefn)".
    ****************************************************************
    RECOMMENDATION:
Since in most cases a column does not need to have a Data
Element set, a tool has been written that will remove
references to Data Elements from a DSX file to avoid
    encountering this problem.

In the longer term a solution will be considered to remove the
need to run this tool and to handle references to Data Elements
    more efficiently.
