APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • 8.1 critical patch which had been installed carries a new
DsDesign.exe but fails to include a required dependent dll
(IBM.DataStage.DiffApi.dll) which is the reason we are
 seeing a crash when hitting the View button

Local fix

  • This fix is included in 8.0.1 fixpack 3

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
Diff (Job Comparison) in DataStage would crash the Designer when
user clicks the "View" button in the Comparison Report.

RECOMMENDATION:
install patch JR35214

Problem conclusion

  • Added missing dependency
Crash also happened with Annotation objects - fixed code to
support these objects as these do not have input/output pins

With these changes in place - crash is avoided.
