Error description

• [Problem]
  when double-clicking DB2 Connector stage just after putting it
  on DS Designer, exception occurs.
  The following message box is displayed:
  
  Title: DB2ConnectorPX
  
  An exception occured! Type:UTFDataFormatException,
  Message:invalid byte
  1 ( ) of a 1-byte sequence.
  

Local fix

Problem summary

• ****************************************************************
  USERS AFFECTED:
  Common Connector users , who have their 8.1 client patch with
  CC Rollup patch 2(i.e this problem is seen for all customers
  whoare using Infomation Server in Japanese , korean, chinese
      installs and have common connector rollup patch installed.
  ****************************************************************
  PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
  When the user drags connector(any of DB2, ODBC, Oracle,
    Teradata) on to the Job Canvass and double clicks on that a
   warning message appears(but it is non -fatal)
  ****************************************************************
  RECOMMENDATION:
  Apply patch "patch_JR34925_client_windows_8100.zip on top of CC
  Rollup patch 2.
  
  This issue is fixed in Information Server 81 Fix Pack 1".

Problem conclusion

• Problem occurs because there were code changes to parse the XML
  Descriptor , and this parsing was done taking descriptor as a
  string and hence fails for bouble byte installs.
