APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When more than one DataStage job using a multi-node config is
submitted for execution it will result in a failure message like
the following entry from a DataStage Director log:


Type: Fatal
Message Id: DSTAGE_RUN_E_0469
Message: Error executing phantom command Cannot open file
"&PH&".

The issue only occurs when Information Server is installed on an
OCFS2 file system.

Local fix

  • This fix is included in 8.0.1 fixpack 3

Problem summary

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
When Information Server is installed on an Oracle Cluster file
system, customers randomly see "Cannot open &PH& file"  after
the phantom DSD.OshMonitor process has been started.  Reported
on 8.0.1 Suse Z and 8.1 Suse Intel.

RECOMMENDATION:
Fix available in future releases.  A patch build can be
requested on 8.0.1.x and 8.1.x.

Problem conclusion

  • open() call gets interrupted.  Added retry loop.
