JR34302: TEXT FILE DRILL DOWN OF A [SPACES] VALUE RETURNS ALL ROWS THAT H AVE A LEADING SPACE IN THE VALUE

Error description

• Text file Drill Down of a [SPACES] value returns all rows that
  have a leading space in the value for that column. For
  example, if the column had values " ", " " and " abc",
  then the FD table will have 3 values each with a count of 1,
  which is good. The first two values are displayed as [SPACES]
  and a drill down of either of those 2 values should ideally
  return just 1 row. However, it is currently returning all 3
  rows. At the least, we would like to prevent that 3rd row from
  being displayed.

  fixed-width Text file data source where there are values with
  trailing spaces or all spaces.

  PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
  Text file Drill Down of a [SPACES] value returns all rows that
  have a leading space in the value for that column. For
  example, if the column had values " ", " " and " abc",
  then the FD table will have 3 values each with a count of 1,
  which is good. The first two values are displayed as [SPACES]
  and a drill down of either of those 2 values should ideally
  return just 1 row. However, it is currently returning all 3
  rows.
  Another problem that was encountered was that in a Fixed-width
  file, values with all spaces were indicated as NULL in the
  Frequency Distribution.

  RECOMMENDATION:
  User should upgrade to Information Analyzer 811 RP1 or higher,
  upgrade branded ODBC drivers to version 05.03.0125 or higher,
  and in the relevant ODBC DSN set variable RightTrimVarChar to
  -1.
