Error description

• Cannot import jobs into IS 8.1 from DS 7.x or IS 8.0.1 when the
  Parameter values or the Parameter prompt has the values > 255
  bytes.

Problem summary

  USERS AFFECTED:
  Import of DSX files created from 7.5 DataStage, which contain
  jobs with parameter definitions that have very long prompt
  strings.
  ****************************************************************
  PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
  DSX file fails to import. from Designer See a popup dialog
  contaiing messages like:
  Line xxxx: Mapping failed to copy attributes: JobDefn ->
  DSJobDef
  (EObject:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, JobDefn).
  ur job name)
           If you
  look in the dstage_wrapper_traceNN.log files, you will   see
  errors such as:          nt
  was violated on attribute        "DisplayCaption". The
  maximum allowed length is 255, but the    length of the value
  is 345. The value is "xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"

  RECOMMENDATION:
  Apply patch: patch_JR34101v2_client_windows_8100.
  This change is included in 8.1 Fix Pack 1.

Problem conclusion

• Problem is caused by a parameter being defined for a job where
  its prompt text is more than 255 characters long. This was
  allowed in DataStage 7.5.
  
  The fix is to change the way parameter prompts are stored at
  8.1so that they will not hit the 255 string limit. Users will
  not  see this change, other than that the DSX should now import
       successfully.
