JR33362: THE \ CHARACTER IS NOT RECOGNIZED WHEN PARAM PASSED USING SHARED CONTAINER

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The customer works on Datastage 7.5.2 on Windows Server 2003
  Service
  pack 1. They want to upgrade to Datastage 7.5.3 because they
  want to upgrade their windows to service pack 2.
  They use a lot of shared containers in their jobs. During the
  tests they do on 7.5.3, they found that when they pass
  parameters that include '\' characters using shared container,
  this character does not recognized.
  Attached please find the test job that shows the problem.
  The job name is TestSilya. It uses shared container named
  ShConTestSilya.
  The job reads rows from TEST.FIELDS file and should write these
  rows to
  #FILE_PATH#\#TEMP_EXT#\#TEMP_EXT#_OutFile file (based on 2
  parameters :
  FILE_PATH and TEMP_EXT). But, the job creates file
  #TEMP_EXT##TEMP_EXT#_OutFile.

Problem summary

  The \ characters is not recognized when job parameter is used in
  server shared container.

  PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
  The backslash \ character is not recognized when job parameter
  is used in server shared container. The issue was caused by a
  fix to PX shared container.
  ****************************************************************
  RECOMMENDATION:
  Apply patch JR33362.
  ****************************************************************
  

Problem conclusion

• Resolution was to rework the previous fix to restrict changes to
  PX shared container only.
