JR33181: ERROR 2780 (SEVERITY 20): MAXLEN (33) IS LESS THAN LENGTH (104)

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Issue with Stored Procedure stage, when used against stored
  procedures for Sybase (stored procudure is making use of output
  parametres), errors are returned:
  
  error 2780 (severity 20): maxlen (33) is less than length (104)
  
  If you remove the output parametres for stored procudure the
  call to the stored procedures runs, however the result set does
  not come back.
  
  Calling the SP outside of DataStage works without issue.

  USERS AFFECTED:
  All users using STP using decimal/numeric type output
  parametersaccessing Sybase in all platforms.
  ****************************************************************
  PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
  Stored Procedure  Stage couldn't handle decimal/numeric type
  output parameters from Sybase and gives error as "Error 2780
  (severity 20): maxlen (33) is less than length (104)" or
  "warning 245 (severity 16) from stored procedure 'sp_decout',
   line 0: Domain error during implicit conversion of DECIMAL
  value'' to a DECIMAL field".
  ****************************************************************
  RECOMMENDATION:
  Install the patch JR33181.
  The fix has been included in the IS 8.1 FP1. Apply the FixPack1
  for IS 8.1.
  ****************************************************************
  

Problem conclusion

• STP will be now able to handle decimal/numeric type output
  parameters from Sybase.
