JR32785: JAVA OUTOFMEMORY ERROR WHEN TRYING TO IMPORT METADATA IN FASTTRACK

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Customer encounters a Java OutOfMemory error when trying to
  import metadata in FastTrack.  If they reboot WAS they are able
  to proceed but not for long.

Problem summary

  USERS AFFECTED:
  Java OutOfMemory error when trying to import data with
  FastTrack.
  ****************************************************************
  PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
  Import metadata failed wihtin Fasttrack with OutOfMemory error.
  This is because that a Hashtable in Common Access Service  is
  incorrectly specified as 'static'.   The table is used to track
  objects imported via CAS.  Because it  is static, a single
  instance of the table will be created which will never be
  released.  As clients import metadata via CAS, the table will
  grow forever, holding on to references to objects such as
  DataCollections, which also reference child objects like
  DataFields.

  RECOMMENDATION:
  Apply patch  JR32758
  Fixed in Information Server 81 FP1.
  ****************************************************************
  

Problem conclusion

• Resolution was to remove the static modifier.
  Fixed in Information Server 81 FP1.
