Abstract

SupportPac CA1E provides the CICS 3270 Bridge Passthrough transaction that allows you to run a CICS 3270 user transaction from a 3270 terminal, using the CICS 3270 Bridge facility.

This SupportPac provides the CICS 3270 Bridge Passthrough transaction that allows you to run a CICS 3270 user transaction from a 3270 terminal, using the CICS 3270 Bridge facility rather than standard CICS terminal control function.

You can use the supplied transaction to evaluate whether a CICS 3270 transaction is suitable to be driven using the 3270 Bridge. It also allows you to examine the 3270 data streams created by the bridge exit and log them for further analysis. You can then use this information to write your own end-user application to drive the CICS 3270 transaction instead of a real terminal.

The Passthrough transactions work with the CICS supplied sample bridge exit DFH0CBRE, using temporary storage or transient data queues to pass 3270 data streams to the Passthrough, or with the MQSeries supplied bridge exit CSQCBE00 if using MQSeries queues. Additionally, Version 3.0 for CICS TS V2.2 now supports the new Link3270 method of bridging to 3270 based applications.

Prerequisites

Installation of this SupportPac requires familiarity with the installation of CICS transactions and definitions of VSAM files.

The SupportPac requires:
» CICS Transaction Server for z/OS 2.2, or later
» MQSeries for MVS/ESA Version 1.2 with APAR PQ13387 if using MQSeries queues.

Installation Instructions

To install the SupportPac:
  1. Click on the download link below and save the to your local machine.
  2. Extract the saved file to a temporary directory on your target machine. This will create the necessary installation files.
  3. Follow the instructions in the included documentation to complete installation of this SupportPac.
