Error description

  • When a terminal is lost while being used by a transaction it can
report this via an ATND or ATNI abend. When the transaction
involved is being transaction routed via an IPIC connection this
situation is reported as a rather drastic DFHAP0001 failure and
an AP0001 system dump is taken:
DFHAP0001 IPADDDCT An abend (code ---/ATND) has occurred at
    offset X'0A1E' in module DFHAPRR.
DFHME0116 IPADDDCT (Module:DFHMEME) CICS symptom string for
    message DFHAP0001 is

    DUMPID: 1/0400
DFHDU0202 IPADDDCT SDUMPX COMPLETE. SDUMPX RETURN CODE X'00'
When the transaction involved is being routed over a non-IPIC
connection the original ATND/ATNI abend is reported in the
    normal manner without any DFHAP0001.

    ****************************************************************
The recovery code in DFHAPRR was not expecting any sorts of
abend so it treated all abends as real problems, reporting
them via the DFHAP0001 message and taking an AP0001 system
dump. ATND and ATNI abends can mean that the terminal has
been lost and are not the result of an internal CICS error,
so do not need to be reported in so drastic a manner.

Problem conclusion

  • If the DFHAPRR recovery code sees that it has been called for an
ATND/ATNI abend it will not report these with the DFHAP0001
processing and will simply percolate the abend to its caller.
