Error description

  • CICS shutdown hangs while calling the DBCTL TRUE for
shutdown. DFHDBAT , near label IQUIESCE , is waiting for the
chain of LOCLAREAs anchored at GCOFORWD to be zero . But
the LOCLAREA pointed to by GCOFORWD points to itself at
    LCOFORWD

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: CICS hangs during shutdown. *
    * The CEMT Shutdown task is stuck while *
    * calling the DBCTL TRUE. *
    * GCOFORWD is non zero. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
The shutdown task continually suspends out of DFHDBSPX waiting
for DBCTL requests to complete. The final task completes from
DBCTL but GCOFORWD is non zero which suggests another task has
yet to complete. The shutdown task is stuck in wait DLSUSPND.
The GCOFORWD has been corrupted when a task schedules a PSB
then a checkpoint freeze is issued. This allows the task to
complete to a TERM call and IMS terminates. A subsequent
schedule of a PSB fails rc x'28' but its local workarea
address remained chained on GCOFORWD, even after task
termination. If IMS is restarted, the area can be reused and
    is chained to itself.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHDBAT has been amended to ensure GCOFORWD is always set
to binary zeros during the connection logic. This will
ensure no residual value remains from a previous
    disconnect.
