Error description

  • Communications Server for Linux, Version 6.2
    ------------------------------------------
For APPC applications using the default pool of dependant LU 6.2
LUs, an ALLOCATE request is satisfied by the first available LU
in the pool. If that LU is experiencing trouble, and the
application releases it to try a new ALLOCATE, that LU will
probably be the first available LU again and will continue to be
assigned to satisfy ALLOCATE requests even though other LUs are
    also available.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All users of APPC applications when using *
    * the default pool of dependant LU6.2 LUs. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: An application using the default pool *
    * of dependant LU6.2 LUs is assigned the *
    * same LU every time. If that LU is *
    * experiencing a problem on the host, *
    * then the application will never be *
    * able to access the host even though *
    * other LUs are available. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
Allocation of dependant LU6.2 LUs in the default pool is
performed by selecting the first available LU in the pool
list. When only one application is using the pool, this
results in the same LU being assigned every time.

Problem conclusion

  • The allocation algorithm has been changed to begin searching
for an available LU starting after the one assigned on the
    previous allocate.
