PK55628: NULLPOINTEREXCEPTION WHEN REMOTE RENDERING PORTLET ON WP 5.1.0.4 DISPLAYS CONTENT FROM WCM 6.0.1.2

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• If you have configured a remote rendering portlet deployed on a
  5.1.0.4 portal server to display content from a 6.0.1.2 server
  which has WCM data, then a NullPointerException can happen. This
  occurs when "Broadcast to" setting for the portlet is "Another
  page" and a target page is selected.
  

Local fix

Problem summary

• Users Affected: All Java edition LWWCM users
  
  Problem Description:
  When trying to broadcast links to a specific page, sometimes
  createURL cannot create the portal page URL
  

Problem conclusion

• In 5.1.0.4 there api seems to catch the NPE, where in 6.0 they
  dont, which is why we see this.
  
  Changed the code for it to handle the case when it cant resolve
  the link for any reason, it will default to target to the
  current portal page
  
  An interim fix is available for this APAR from Fix Central at:
