PK53085: EXTRA '/' AT END OF URL WHEN RENDERED FROM HTMLCMPNT

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Extra '/' at end of URL when rendered from HTMLCmpnt
    ..
When an html html component is rendered an extra / is
added to the end. The problem is that the links within
the component are getting an extra / added to the end
    during rendering.
    .
For example in the below "/XYZ/media centre/" would
end up as "/XYZ/media centre//" when rendered.
    ..
This issue was the result of changes made in APAR PK44516.
    .
The error is that WCM adds a slash ('/') at the end of
the URL, and the above design causes the URL to end
with two slashes.. Prior to installing PK44516, there
was no final slash in the rendered URL.

Local fix

  • N/A
Try removing the slash at the end of your links within
the design of components such as an HTMLCmpnt.
    Apply fix when available.

Problem summary

  • Problem Summary: Extra '/' at end of URL when rendered from
    HTMLCmpnt.

    Detailed Problem Description:

The design for an HTML component refers to a link component
which refers to a Site or Site Area. Here is some HTML as an
    example:

    <a href='<Component name="linkComponent" format="url"/>/'>Link
    from HTML Component</a>

If linkComponent is linked to a Site with the path
/myLibrary/mySite, the URL rendered by the above design and tag
    usage will end with /myLibrary/mySite//.

The error is that WCM adds a slash ('/') at the end of the URL,
and the above design causes the URL to end with two slashes..
Prior to installing PK44516, there was no final slash in the
    rendered URL.

Problem conclusion

  • Problem Analysis:

Changes delivered via PK44516 changed the way the path to a WCM
item is rendered causing the URL to have a trailing slash. This
behavior can cause problems for customers that put a slash at
the end of their links within the design of components such as
    an HTMLCmpnt.

Failing Module: WCM - Web Content Management (General)

    Problem Solution:

Eliminate the trailing slash when WCM renders an item's path.

You will need to cut/paste the entire URL into a browser to
    resolve the address.
