PI21626: SECURE WBIFN SEMAPHORES ON GROUP LEVEL TO AVOID ALTERATION BY OTHER APPLICATIONS

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The semaphores, which were created by the WBIFN configuration
  providers service are currently not secured for read nor alter.
  
  Other applications may access these semaphores, and even alter
  them.
  Alteration of the semaphore content leads to unforeseeable
  results like performance issues, lock situations or even abends.
  
  Therefore, the semaphores should be secured to be only
  accessable by the originator (the broker started task user) and
  the group members for the WBIFN group DNILPP.

  not secured. Other applications could read these semaphores
  and even alter them. In certain situations, this could lead to
  unforeseeable results like performance issues, lock situations
  or even abends.
  

Problem conclusion

• Now, the semaphores created by WebSphere BI for FN are
  accessible only by the owner (the broker started task user ID)
  and all members that belong to the effective group of the owner.
