Error description

  • DLUR / DLUS session hangs PSEST after recycle of target
    application. When target Application is restarted, in this
    case CICS, a new BIND request is sent from the DLUS but no
    response from DLUR (CS/Linux).

Local fix

  • contact Level/2 support for availability of efix.

Problem summary

  • *  USERS AFFECTED: ALL TN3270 users.
    *
    *  PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
    * Following CICS reset some TN3270 sessions to internal DLUR
    * LUs could not be re-established under stress. BINDs are not
    * responded to. Session hangs in VTAM 'PSEST'. The users must
    * issue the VTAM Vary Inact/Act command to recover from the
    *   hang.
    *
    *  PROBLEM SUMMARY:
    * During session termination, If the UNBIND is received before
    * the DACTLU AND the the DACTLU is received before the UNBIND
    * response can be sent to the mainframe (while it is queued to
    * the tnserver component) then CS/Linux fails to respond to
    * the UNBIND. If the mainframe reuses that independent LFSID
    * the subsequent BIND is not responded to (the application
    * cannot reconnect). Thus the new session will hang 'PSEST'.
    ****************************************************************

Problem conclusion

  • SNAPIXR/Driver.o code has been changed to correctly send the
    UNBIND response when DACTLU is received for a DLUR LU.

Temporary fix

  • efix available - contact Level/2.
