Error description

  • This was seen with a Java program using the Communications
Server for Linux APIs. When the Java program encountered an
error and attempted to produce a core dump, it encountered a
hang in the /opt/ibm/sna/lib64/libsna_r.so library.

Problem summary


    

  • USERS AFFECTED:
All programs that use the multi-threaded SNA APIs.

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
Hang in SNA library after a fork().

PROBLEM SUMMARY:
When a program using a multi-threaded SNA library calls fork(),
this does not always get handled correctly.

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • The library has been corrected so the post_fork handler for the
parent process does not reset the SNA resournces.

    



Temporary fix


    

  • /opt/ibm/sna/lib64/libsna_r.so
