Error description

  • Communications Server for Linux, Version 6.2
    --------------------------------------------
A TN3270 client identifies itself with the DEVICE-TYPE option
as a certain model of terminal, but the BIND that the TN3270
Server receives from the host has some parameters with values
incompatible with that particular model, so the TN3270 Server
rejects the BIND, even if the client would be able to accept
    those values anyway.

Local fix

  • Correct the configuration of the client to identify itself
    properly.

Problem summary

  • USERS AFFECTED:
      All users of TN3270 Server.
      .
      PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
When the BIND image received from the host contains screen
size parameters that do not match the screen size indicated
by the display model supplied by the tn3270 client, the
TN370 Server rejects the BIND with sense code 08210016 and
      logs error 4102-36.
      .
      PROBLEM SUMMARY:
The BIND check is being performed as a historical necessity
predating TN3270E. With TN3270E, the BIND image can be
passed down to the client so the client can determine whether
to accept or reject the values of the session parameters. The
BIND check can be removed when the client is TN3270E but is
still necessary when the client is just TN3270.

Problem conclusion

  • Code has been modified to not perform the BIND check if the
clientsupports TN3270E and the BIND-IMAGE function.
