Error description

  • Communications Server for AIX, Version 6.4

On a system with CSAIX installed, using cldump or snmpinfo can
fail with "genErr at position 1".

Local fix

  • If SNMP is not being used for monitoring SNA, remove the SNA MIB
from the SNMP confiuration. Edit the files /etc/snmp.conf and
/etc/snmp.peers to comment out or remove the line:
smux 1.3.6.1.4.1.2.6.2.1.7 Route66
Then restart then snmpd service.

Problem summary

  • USERS AFFECTED: all using snmp tools

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
On a system with CSAIX installed, the commands cldump
and snmpinfo fail with "genErr at position 1"

PROBLEM SUMMARY:
cldump in hacmp failed when snasnmp was running.

Problem conclusion

  • The CSAIX snasnmp function has been changed to correctly
handle a full walk of the MIB.

Temporary fix

  • snasnmp
