Error description

  • CS/Linux connection failure with Windows clients. The following
    ASSERT error is issued:

    SNA Audit file also showed process handle failure with Error
    Code = 5.
    

Local fix

  • Contact Level/2 for efix availability.
    

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All users of Communications Server           *
    *                 Remote API Client                            *

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:  At times, there is a lost of           *
    *  communication with the Windows client.  The audit logs show *
    *  message "Unable to create a process handle" 16392-18(46)    *
    *  for transactions that are active and working.  These        *
    *  messages from the audit logs are harmless in themselves,    *
    *  however when CS generates logs during the start up of       *
    *  an application (before it has attached to the service) it   *
    *  is possible that we can fail to log the message locally and *
    *  try and send the log to the service before the IPC is in a  *
    *  ready state.  This problem could also affect a Unix client. *

Problem conclusion

  • New code was added to correctly initialize the state of an
    internal data structure to indicate that the IPC is not in
    a ready state.
    

Temporary fix

  • efix available, sent to customer on 12/09/2008.
    Contact Level/2 support for further details.
