How to Determine the Version of Red Brick.

Question & Answer

Question

What is the procedure to view the version of your Red Brick Warehouse?

Answer

INTRODUCTION

The Red Brick version is stored in a file and can be displayed by any tool or utility that will display the contents of the file. The version information is needed when opening a case with IBM customer support.

STEPS

Perform the following steps to display the Red Brick version:

    1. Locate the Red Brick installation directory. The environment variable RB_CONFG contains this directory.

    2. Display the contents of the file that starts with SN.

      Example:

      On non Windows operating systems use a file manipulation command such as cat.

        $ cat RB_CONFIG/SN*
        6.30FC11

      Windows operating systems can use Windows explorer and right click on the SN file. Open with Wordpad or Notepad.

      Tip: Red Brick that has been upgraded may have multiple SN* files. Use the most recent file to get the current Red Brick version.
