APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• HOD server 11.09  SM.zip command -Xoss256k does not work and
  gives the following error message
  
  In z/OS V2.1 and JAVA 7.1, this parameter gives this message :
  JVMJ9VM007E Command-line option unrecognised: -Xoss256k  804
  

Local fix

• Edit the  "ServiceManager.sh" and replace -Xoss256k with
   oss256k that comes with installation files
  
  Modify as follows:
  Modify "ServiceManager.sh" that comes with installation files
  and just  uncomment one line:
  
   <ServiceManager.sh-snip>
   # This line is for problem determination and outputs to
  HOD.stdout in the private directory
  
   # java -verbose -mx32m -oss256K -Djava.compiler=off -classpath

   The parameter is present on two lines, so modify both lines.
  

Problem summary

• When zOS HOD Admin changes the Java heap size for Host On
  Demand Service Manager using "-Xoss" parameter, starting HOD
  results in this message :
   JVMJ9VM007E Command-line option unrecognized
  This problem was happening because "-Xoss" parameter is
  deprecated.
  

Problem conclusion

• The start script for the zOS HOD server was modified to replace
  the deprecated parameter to -oss instead of -Xoss
  Fix scheduled to be in HOD 11.0.14 Refresh Pack
  

Temporary fix

• Edit the  "ServiceManager.sh" and replace -Xoss256k with
   oss256k that comes with installation files
