Error description

  • PCOMM 6.09 on Windows 7
    Laptop users have 2 monitors running at same time, which works
    as expected. When the users drag the emulator to second monitor
    everything is OK. The User then goes mobile and has the laptop
    screen only. PCOM does not adjust for this and still opens the
    emulator at what is now invalid coordinate points.

    This is very similar to the problem reported in APAR IC46532.

    * USERS AFFECTED:                                              *
    * Users of IBM Personal Communications on a system configured *
    * with extended monitors.                                      *

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
    * The problem is reported on systems configured with extended *
    * monitors. Suppose IBM Personal Communications emulator *
    * screen, from a saved session, is dragged to the second *
    * screen and closed. When the extended monitor is later *
    * removed and the saved session is launched again, the *
    * emulator screen will not be displayed at all. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    When an emulator session is closed, the current display
    attributes such as the window co-ordinates, height and width of
    the window etc, are saved to the session profile under
    LastExitView keyword. The session was not being displayed as the
    LastExitView value was not valid once the extended monitor was
    removed.

Problem conclusion

  • PCSWS.EXE has been changed to revert to default coordinates if
    the saved coordinates are not valid.

    Fix scheduled for PCOM 6.0.15 Refresh Pack
