APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When the PCOM user is configured in pcswin.ini to use the
License Manager, the client is not getting registered if the
URL points to a server via hostname.

Local fix

  • Use the IP address of the License Server.

Problem summary

* Users of IBM Personal Communications using License server's  *
* hostname for connecting with License Manager server.         *
****************************************************************
* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
* User configures License server hostname as part of "URL"     *
* link keyword defined in pcswin.ini file.                     *
* When starting the IBM Personal Communications session, the   *
* client fails to connect to the configured License server.    *
****************************************************************
* RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
****************************************************************
IBM Personal Communications using License server's hostname is
not able to connect to License manager server. The connection is
successful if the IP address of the License server is used.

Problem conclusion

  • PCSCM.EXE has been changed to connect to the License server
using hostname directly.

Fix scheduled for PCOMM 6.0.15 Refresh Pack.
