Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: * * All users of IBM Personal Communications FTP client utility * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: * * Extra NULL characters appear in a PC file when downloaded * * from a z/OS host in ASCII mode. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When a user downloads a file from a z/OS host in ASCII mode, they can see extra NULL characters in places where there is a single new line character. When a user opens the file on the host, there appears only one 0x40 (hex value of SPACE) but when the same file is downloaded in "ASCII mode", the downloaded file has multiple NULLs. This does not happen if the file is downloaded in Binary mode.
Problem conclusion
PCSFTP.EXE has been changed to correctly handle the EBCDIC to ASCII translation of data and control characters when downloading from a z/OS host. Fix scheduled for PCOM 6.0.13 Refresh Pack
