IC82350: DATA LOSS MAY OCCUR AFTER DISABLING DEDUPLICATION ON A TARGET REPLICATION SERVER

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • File data corruption may occur on a target replication Server if
deduplication is disabled for a storage pool and deduplicated
files are subsequently moved from the storage pool (ie.
migration).  This problem would only affect those objects that
were deduplicated via the node replication process.  The problem
condition does not apply to, or affect, deduplicated objects on
the source replication Server.

All TSM 6.x Servers

Local fix

  • Do not disable storage pool deduplication if deduped files
exist.  To prevent further deduplication of incoming data,
update the number of identification processes for the given
storage pool to 0:

   update stgpool <stgpool name> identifyprocess=0
