Abstract
New features and other changes in ClearCase®.
Content
V8.0.1.7
Automatic views
The automatic view is a new type of view that combines features of the dynamic view, such as instant workspace creation and shared cleartext caches, with features of the web view, such as WAN friendliness and support for working offline. For more information, refer to http://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/257649.
Enabling SSL V3
A new environment variable and config.pl parameter can be set to enable SSL V3, which is disabled by default due to its vulnerability to POODLE attacks; refer to http://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/525397.
CMI-JIRA integration
CMI (change management interface) supports the JIRA task provider; for instructions on configuring CMI for JIRA, refer to http://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/526941.
Displaying UCM baseline overrides
The capability of displaying baseline overrides has been enhanced in this release to support formatted output. For more information, refer to http://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/256137.
Dealing with unwanted UCM baseline dependencies
The script findUnwantedDependency.pl finds unwanted baseline dependencies and prints commands for removing them. For instructions on using the script, refer to http://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/527339.
Changes in CTE snapshot view support
CTE snapshot view support has been extended to include the following features:
- Multisite
- RTC integration
- Logical resources
- UCM-CQ integration
- Visual Studio integration
CTE support for load rule commenting in config specs
CTE now supports load rule comments in config specs for web and snapshot views. (NOTE: automatic views and rcleartool do not support load rule commenting in this release.)
Enhancements to the Cadence Virtuoso integration
The following enhancements are delivered in this release:
- SRFM support: support for synchronous request for mastership (SRFM) has been extended to "delete" operations from the Library Manager or Work Area Manager (WAM). (SRFM support was previously limited to "create"and "checkout" operations.)
- Handling of duplicate names: when an error is encountered during check-in of unmanaged designs, an attempt is made to restore these elements to their original names. Sometimes the restoration can fail due to an eclipsed element. In that case, the restoration process renames the unmanaged designs by appending _mkelem to the original names.
- Support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.6.
Changes to the command line
There are no changes to any ClearCase® commands in this release.
Status of the feature level
The ClearCase® VOB feature level is unchanged in this release. For information on feature levels and ClearCase® releases, refer to http://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/73065.

Enhancements to the Cadence Virtuoso integration
This release introduces the following enhancements to the integration with Cadence Virtuoso:
- The ClearCase® "Label parents" feature has been enhanced to allow labeling of parent directories up to and including the VOB-tag directory of the library. The "Label files" feature labels all files in all labeled parents. Accordingly, the label report has been updated to list the files that were labeled in the parent directories.
- Using the Work Area Manager (WAM) context menu, you can convert a reserved checkout in a view other than the current one to an unreserved checkout.
Snapshot view performance improvements
In a ClearTeam Explorer snapshot view, the performance of operations such as deliver, rebase, merge, and add-to-source has been improved significantly.

Status of the feature level
The ClearCase® VOB feature level is unchanged in this release. For information on feature levels and ClearCase® releases, refer to http://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/73065.
V8.0.1.11 through 8.0.1.12
ClearTeam Explorer (CTE) enhancements
Checking out and merging arbitrary versions by using the version tree
In this release, you can check out any version of an element from its version tree. (In older releases, the only candidate for a checkout operation was the version selected by your view.) Similarly, you can select any version in the tree as the merge-to version.
Send-to menu item (Windows only)When you right-click a version that is displayed in the version tree, the history browser, or the change set viewer, the context menu includes a "Send to" menu item that you can use to send a copy of the version to an email recipient, create a shortcut on your desktop, and so on.
Cadence Virtuoso integration enhancements
Locking label types
The integration supports locking a label type, which prevents instances of the type from being moved.
Opening cellviews in read-only or edit modes
The Hierarchy Manager and Work Area Manager (WAM) support opening a cellview in either read-only or edit modes. Right-click on the cellview and select "Open read-only..."or"Open for edit...".
Filtering label types
You can filter label types to include only the types that you want to see. Type the filter text in the "Label Filter" text box, then click "Fetch labels." You can also set the environment variable CCASE_LABEL_FILTER to a filter value, which causes the "Label filter" box to be populated with that value.
Improvements to rename operation
The rename operation supports synchronous requests for mastership (SRFM) and polling for checkout and checkin of nonmastered parents in replicated VOBs. A library rename update references automatically (previously, references had to be updated manually). Note that you cannot rename an object if the cell view is open in an editor.
Listing hierarchy elements managed by ClearCase®
Use the option "Show Items With DM System CCASE" to filter out cell views in a design hierarchy whose design manager is not ClearCase®.

V8.0.1.23
Security
Crypt::SSLeay v0.72 has been removed from the product due to incompatibility with OpenSSL 1.1.1d.
If you use ratlperl, ccperl, cqperl, SSL/TLS connections, LWP::UserAgent, and Crypt::SSLeay in your own perl scripts, you are affected by this change.
The suggested fix is to stop importing the Crypt::SSLeay SSL implementation module in your perl scripts and letting LWP::Protocol::https default (or explicitly use) to the provided IO::Socket::SSL module.
About upgraded Net::SSLeay to version 1.88, for change history and usage, see http://metacpan.org/release/CHRISN/Net-SSLeay-1.88.
About upgraded IO::Socket::SSL to version 2.066, for change history and usage, see http://metacpan.org/release/SULLR/IO-Socket-SSL-2.066.
You are affected by these changes if you use ratlperl, ccperl, cqperl, and use either Net::SSLeay or IO::Socket::SSL. See the corresponding module documentation for interface changes.
