Node replication ends with ANR1903E when incompatible datatypes/rules used

Troubleshooting

Problem

The node replication process will end with message: "ANR1930E REPLICATE NODE: There are no eligible filespaces for node test123 " when the DATATYPE=BACKUPACTIVE option is used in the replicate node command, e.g. replicate node test123 datatype=backupactive

Cause

Replication rule and the specified datatype option do not match. The Knowledge Center lists the valid replication rules and data types combinations (see "replicate node" command)

Diagnosing The Problem

A REPL trace on the Tivoli Storage Manager server will show that the used replication rule and the specified data type are not compatible:
[1658][imrepl.c][10896][ApplySelectedRule]:Starting: copyType is Backup, rule is ALL_DATA [1658][imrepl.c][10943][ApplySelectedRule]:Skipping - wrong active/inactive

Resolving The Problem

Ensure that a valid combination of replication rule and data type is used. If DATATYPE=BACKUPACTIVE is used, make sure that either the backup replication rule for the node or the filespace is set to ACTIVE_DATA.

IMPORTANT:
ensure that you have understand the effect on the target replication server when replicating ACTIVE_DATA only, like no version control, inactive versions might get deleted, etc.
