Failure when installing/upgrading the Tivoli Storage Manager server

Troubleshooting


Problem

Attempts to install/upgrade the Tivoli Storage Manager 7.1.x server code fail due to eclipse errors

Symptom

Errors similar to the following are seen on the console:

Cause

As seen in the errors above, the installation is failing because the installer is attempting to process 2 different versions of the same component (ie. com.ibm.cic.agent.core.ds.consoleManager).

Resolving The Problem

This behavior suggests that the directory from which the installation is being attempted (the directory where the contents of the installation package have been extracted) contains files from different versions of the Tivoli Storage Manager server code. To resolve these errors, remove the contents of the current installation directory and then re-extract the contents of the appropriate Tivoli Storage Manager installation package (ie. 7.1.0, 7.1.1) into the same directory. The server installation process should then complete successfully.
