Unsigned application error when starting the TEP web client

Troubleshooting

Problem

"Unsigned application requesting unrestricted access to the system" error starting the Tivoli Enterprise Portal Webstart client

Symptom

The following error message is observed when starting the Tivoli Enterprise Portal Webstart client:

"Unsigned application requesting unrestricted access to the system"

Cause

Corrupt Java cache or back level Java version

Diagnosing The Problem

Check the Java cache and empty it if it contains any entries.

Resolving The Problem

This error is fairly common and in most cases can be resolved by clearing the Java cache. Note that this error can occur for other applications which use Java, the resolution may work for all cases of the error.

Go to Start > Run, type “javaws -viewer” and hit enter. This should show everything in the Java cache. Close the cache viewer and select the 'Settings' for Temporary Internet Files. Choose delete files on the Temporary Files Settings window and OK on the Delete Files and Applications window.

If you still encounter the same problem after clearing the Java cache, get the latest Java version; remove all previously installed Java versions (JRE and JDK if any) from add/remove programs, install the latest Java version, and try again.
