Can a solution be stable and scalable? Yes.
Retailers large and small face a daily forecasting and replenishment cycle that includes managing inventory and controlling pricing and promotions—all by anticipating shoppers’ needs. That anticipation relies on integrating point-of-sale (POS) intelligence with customer buying habits. And that information relies on a supply chain that can provide automated replenishment based on stock information, supplier restrictions and factors that influence demand. Driving it all is an infrastructure that has to grow as your business grows.
A platform for your volume today… and tomorrow
The scalable platform for SAP retail solutions from IBM is built on our shared goal of enabling efficient integration between SAP applications and the IBM Dynamic Infrastructure. The platform can include:
One platform for 300 to 3000 stores
Together, IBM and SAP initiated the Retail Trilogy Project, a multi-month, multi-million dollar proof of technology project for the retail industry. Through rigorous testing, the project proved that SAP applications can be scaled from small to large industry volumes—up to 3000 stores, 75,000 active SKUs, 32 million POS transactions, multiple distribution centers—on a choice of IBM platforms. The testing demonstrated linear scalability at the highest volumes indicating that even larger volumes could be supported with additional resources. No upward limit was indicated.
The project focused on three solutions—the Retail Trilogy—that address time-critical and scalability concerns for retailers. The Retail Trilogy includes:
