WebSphere Studio Workload Simulator for z/OS and OS/390
Overview
Helps assess your Web-serving environment's capability for handling production-level loads
Simulates large numbers of "virtual users" and the associated Web traffic
Enables Quality Assurance personnel to conduct tests on load, performance, and capacity-planning on your Web-serving environment
The load is generated by the "Engine" component, which resides on a zSeries® mainframe to provide high scalability
The load generated by the engine can be used to test any Web-serving environment (e.g., the environment to be tested is not limited to z/OS)
All test functions are accessible through a Windows graphical user interface (GUI) from the "Controller" component, installed on a Windows workstation
Load-testing with WebSphere Workload Simulator is a straightforward process: Capture, Playback, Analyze
A "Capture" function automatically generates a test script from a Web session
The test script can be edited to incorporate more complex programming functions
Variable content can also be incorporated into the test script
Runtime parameters can be set before "Playback"
The progress of the test can be monitored through the Windows GUI, or through a Web browser; For post-test analysis, the test results are plotted and are viewable on the Windows GUI
