Dr. Duangnet Chatree: Purpose of medicine and purpose of the doctor is to help the patient and do no
harm to the patient.
We are a tertiary care hospital that provides advanced international standard of care to patient. We have
project in the hospital we call Personal Health Management. We start to collect information on the patient
before they would get sick. We have analysis in that system that can tell the patient is going to have to be
taken care to help patient to avoid having any major catastrophic problem in the future.
The analytic capability did not exist before. During that time we were just doing what I call reactive
patient care whenever they would get any disease, we would just treat them.
A patient comes in, you have to run look for the patient record and sometimes you misplace it and then
you have to just guess from what the patient tells you. That’s just very, very dangerous to the patient.
But here, with this system, we found out the patient has a high risk to have heart disease or cancer or
diabetes something like them, we send them right away to those doctors and prevent them from getting
into more trouble.
Customer satisfaction index went up. The patient trusts the system and trust creates loyalty, the loyalty
is created, the patient would stick up with you and will stay with you for a long time. And, because of that,
number of repeat patients coming back went up to almost 40%.
By the end of year 2011 we would like to have all hospitals ready for single patient Electronic Medical
Record and 2012, we want to be fully functional for the whole network of hospitals. That way we want to
grow to be a leader of hospital group in this part of the world by the year 2015.

Bangkok Hospital should be the model for all of our network hospitals to follow. And when people come to
our system, they know that they come to Bangkok Group and they know that they are going to get care
clinical this way and hospitality this way also.
