Title: Distribute i5/OS application objects using CD or DVD media
Abstract: Packaging an application for installation on i5/OS™ has never been easier. The support in i5/OS V5R3 for image catalogs and virtual optical devices enables a simple process for creating CD and DVD images. i5/OS includes facilities to assist with installation of packaged applications. Installation methods familiar to i5/OS administrators of LODRUN and RSTLICPGM, as well as common Linux or UNIX shell scripting, will be explored. Methods for creating physical media to exploit these i5/OS features will be explained. Throughout, reasons for selecting one method over others will be provided.
