Enterprise IT transformation
During her opening remarks, Ginni shared three specific areas where startups, working with IBM, can transform enterprise IT: the rapid emergence and adaptation of mobility and hybrid cloud; the introduction of software-defined infrastructures designed for big data; and cognitive systems that can learn and adapt to speed decision-making.
"The confluence of these three technologies will create new markets," Ginni said. "It will change business at the core, bringing a new era of computing into the front office."
Her vision for the future provides perspective on how information as a "natural resource" will be a competitive advantage. It will impact business models and enable decision makers to predict outcomes and act quickly.
"We look for strategic partnerships, since we are typically investing in IP," Ginni added. "We have a distribution system spanning 170 countries. If you are successful in one area, we can scale."
