Today there is a new model of innovation. It is a community driven approach to problem solving where people work across geographical and organizational boundaries to confront today’s most pressing challenges. This new model of innovation is fueled by open standards.
Open standards strive to integrate perspectives of multiple parties, each with a stake in the particular standards area being addressed. Open standards do not favor one vendor’s technology or one geography. The views of all in the community of interest are considered and the best solution is distilled from the wealth of good ideas brought forward. An open standard, developed in this manner can solve societal and business problems, accelerate technology advancements and stimulate economic growth.
IBM participates in many worldwide standards activities to support IBM's business objectives and to help achieve open innovation based on open standards.
