Examples of IBM display, printer and I/O technologies patents
USP 6,952,036 entitled "THIN-FILM TRANSISTOR STRUCTURE, METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE THIN-FILM TRANSISTOR STRUCTURE, AND DISPLAY DEVICE USING THE THIN-FILM TRANSISTOR STRUCTURE"

This patent is directed to a thin film transistor having an insulating polymer film in which a trench accommodating conductive gate wiring self-aligned with the insulating polymer film is formed. Electroless plating followed by the electroplating reduces the manufacturing time compared to the dry process such as sputtering and CVD. This innovation solves problems regarding a propagation delay of a gate wiring and at the same time improves manufacturing yield, thereby achieves a large screen and a high definition in a display device using a TFT at a low cost.

USP 6,917,033 entitled "PASSIVE TOUCH-SENSITIVE OPTICAL MARKER"

This patent is directed to a passive optical marker for use in accordance with an electronic whiteboard system. The marker has a reflector which is selectively exposed to the infrared light from the light emitting source. A processing system can determine the location of the optical marker and pen-up/pen-down states by detecting the reflected light using a sensor within camera. The whiteboard screen may be non-planar. This invention is a cornerstone in easily setting up collaborative e-learning sessions without the need for special digitizers.
