| | h3.This is not the old comp.unix.faq |
| | This is not a replacement for the comp.unix.faq Internet News based FAQ. Which was an excellent place to learn about AIX and find answers. |
| | A website version of this FAQ can be found at the following URL |
| | || Website|| URL|| |
| | |comp.unix.faq| http://www.faqs.org/faqs/aix-faq/| |
| | |
| | In this News based FAQ there are hundreds of useful questions and answers but this FAQ has major problems. |
| | # It is hopelessly *out of date* - the last update was 2nd November 2000 (just about the time AIX 5 was released) |
| | # It contains lots of *AIX 3 and AIX 4* questions and answer. While these can be very useful for older systems still running these old versions they add confusion as answers may or may not apply to AIX 5L |
| | # There seem to be *no process nor mechanism* to update this old FAQ |
| | |
| | It is time to move on with a AIX 5L FAQ. |
| | |
| | h2. What is this FAQ for then? |
| | This is the place for a list of commonly asked questions for AIX 5L and will forever be a work in progress. |
| | Many of the questions will originate from the AIX 5L Forum and from AIX Support Channels. |
| | The aim is to save you time and increase your skills. |
| | As the list of questions grows it will need to be better organized but a list is good enough for now. |
| | If you add an answer please try to include a date (if it is likely to need updating) or a reference to where the information came from (so it can be checked or used for further details). |
