 h1. WebSphere Business Process Management

 What is WebSphere Business Process Management?

 WebSphere Business Process Management (WBPM) and WebSphere Process Integration (WPI) are two terms IBM uses for its evolving suite of [SOA|IBM SOA] integration servers and development IDEs. The core set of products are:
 * [WebSphere Process Server] -- A runtime environment for [SOA|service-oriented architecture] applications
 * [WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus] -- An [IBM ESB] runtime environment built into WPS
 * [WebSphere Integration Developer] -- An IDE for developing WPS apps and WESB mediations
 * [WebSphere Business Modeler] -- An IDE for business analysts to model business processes
 * [WebSphere Business Monitor] -- A runtime monitoring system to measure business processes
 * [Websphere Business Services Fabric] -- Extends WPS and WID to build and execute composite business applications
 * [WebSphere Partner Gateway] -- A B2B gateway that can be used to connect other companies into WPS

 There's also a number of related products:
 * [IBM ESB] products
 * [WebSphere DataPower] -- Integration appliances for XML processing, security, and data transformation
 * [WebSphere Service Registry and Repository] -- A service registry for finding services and their providers
 * [WebSphere Adapters] -- These are a new set of adapters for WPS
 * [WebSphere Business Integration Adapters|WebSphere Adapters] -- An older but still current set of adapters from [WBI Server Foundation|http://www.ibm.com/software/integration/wbisf/] that also run in WPS

 I've talked about these products in:
 * [WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus|http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/blogs/page/woolf?entry=websphere_enterprise_service_bus]
 * [WPS and WID Now Available|http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/blogs/page/woolf?entry=wps_and_wid_now_available]
 * [New WebSphere Integration Products|http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/blogs/page/woolf?entry=new_websphere_integration_products]

 Two technologies they rely on heavily are [Service Component Architecture] (SOA) and [Service Data Objects] (SDO).
