The base kernel level and the base library levels listed here are the default levels provided by the Linux Environment in question. Kernel and library levels that differ from this due to update packages provided by the Linux distributor are also supported.

*Random DB2 failures may occur on Linux with Address Space Layout Randomization (ASLR)*
Some DB2 processes may result in shared memory segment failures due to the Address Space Layout Randomization (ASLR) feature. ASLR is designed to insert random gaps into address space to hinder some types of security attacks. DB2 processes are capable of identifying the correct address of the shared memory segement. However not all processes are able to use that address due to randomization of ASLR. Processes that are known to encounter failures are: db2pd, db2egcf, and db2vend.

ASLR is activated by default on SLES10 and SLES11. To avoid random shared memory conflicts, it is recommended to disable ASLR at the server level. Please refer to [technote ref # 1365583 | http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=71&context=SSEPGG&dc=DB560&dc=DB520&uid=swg21365583&loc=en_US&cs=UTF-8&lang=en&rss=ct71db2] for details.

*IBM Tivoli System Automation for Multiplatform (SA MP) Base Component Support*
IBM Tivoli System Automation for Multiplatform (SA MP) Base Component is integrated with some DB2 editions on Linux operating systems. SA MP Base Component installation will fail during DB2 installation on SLES 11 environments. This does not affect the overall DB2 installation and a message about SA MP install failure will be reported in the db2_install.log. There is currently no workaround until a SLES 11 supported version of SA MP is released.

Please check back this page later for information about such SA MP release.

 *Double-Byte Code Page Support*
Font configurations for double-byte code page environments are changed in SLES 11. This creates two problems with DB2 double-byte support on SLES 11.
  * If you are trying to install DB2 V9.1 or V9.5 on SLES11 using double-byte languages, fonts on the installation panels will not be displayed properly. A DB2 fix is being worked on. Current workaround of this problem is to install DB2 V9.1 or V9.5 in English or perform a silent install.
  * If you used silent install to bypass the install panel double-byte font display problems, you will run into the same font display problem on all DB2 graphical such as the DB2 Control Center. There is currently no workaround for DB2 graphical tools to properly display double-byte fonts on SLES 11 environments. A DB2 fix will be delivered shortly.

 *Micro Focus COBOL Support*
Micro Focus Server Express Version 5.0 does not support SLES 11. COBOL applications using this compiler is not supported on SLES 11.
