Updating the middleware agent
Install WebSphere Extended Deployment Version 6.1 Fix Pack 3 (6.1.0.3) and the IBM software development kit (SDK), Java Technology Edition 1.5 SR7 Cumulative Fix for WebSphere(R) Application Server Version 6.1.0.17 to update the middleware agent to the latest maintenance levels.
Use the Update Installer to apply maintenance packages to your existing middleware agent installations. To successfully update the middleware agent with WebSphere Extended Deployment Version 6.1.0.3, you must also install the IBM SDK, Java Technology Edition 1.5 SR7 Cumulative Fix for WebSphere(R) Application Server Version 6.1.0.17.
Use the Update Installer to individually install each maintenance package. You can install the maintenance packages by running the graphical user interface (GUI), or by running the Update Installer in silent mode.
Issue the following command from the updi_root directory to start the GUI:
update.bat
./update.sh
Issue the following command from the updi_root directory to run the Update Installer in silent mode:
./update.sh -silent -options responsefile/file_name
If the installation process fails, then refer to the temporary log file, which is located in the updi_root/logs/update/tmp directory.
Click Relaunch on the last panel of the Update Installer to install the second maintenance package after the tool installs the first maintenance package.
Results
The middleware agent is now updated with WebSphere Extended Deployment Version 6.1.0.3 and the IBM SDK 1.5 SR7 Cumulative Fix for WebSphere(R) Application Server Version 6.1.0.17.
