WebSphere Virtual Enterprise Version 6.1.1

Migrating the product

Migrating involves collecting the configuration information from a previous release of the product, and merging that information into a configuration for a new release. Use this procedure to migrate from WebSphere Extended Deployment Version 6.1 to WebSphere Extended Deployment Version 6.1.1 .

Before you begin

The documentation is designed to provide instructions on migrating to a WebSphere(R) Extended Deployment installation that includes all product components: WebSphere(R) Virtual Enterprise , WebSphere(R) Extended DeploymentCompute Grid .

Ensure that the cell and the nodes have the same name to successfully complete the migration.

About this task

A third concept introduces the capability to migrate Version 6.0.2, which must already exist on WebSphere(R) Application ServerNetwork Deployment Version 6.1, directly to Version 6.1. In other words, you are not required to install or migrate Network Deployment as a prerequisite for migrating Version 6.0.2 to Version 6.1. This task is not available with an installation of Version 6.0.2 on WebSphere(R) Application ServerNetwork Deployment Version 6.0.2.

You can migrate your product configurations using the WebSphere(R) Extended Deployment Version 6.1.x Migration wizard or the command-line migration tools.

Procedure

  • Select the appropriate migration tools to migrate your product configurations.
  • Migration wizard
Provides the graphical interface to the primary migration tools, the XDUpgrade command.
  • XDUpgrade command
Restores the configuration data from a previous release.
