Installing and configuring the product
Use this procedure to install and customize product packages. The information includes planning, preparing for, completing, and maintaining product installations, including configuring the product after installation.
Before you begin
For information on installing and deploying WebSphere(R) eXtreme Scale in your environment, see the WebSphere eXtreme Scale Information Center

Procedure
- Obtain the product code for distributed platforms in one of the following ways:
- Prepare the environment in which you plan to install the product.
- You can install the product in an environment that contains an existing installation of WebSphere(R) Application ServerNetwork Deployment . You can configure one or more nodes that comprise your Network Deployment cell. See Installing in a WebSphere Application Server environment for more information.
- You can install the middleware agent if you want to run the product in an environment that does not contain WebSphere(R) Application ServerNetwork Deployment . The middleware agent is located on a node that is running other middleware servers. See Installing the middleware agent for more information.
- Use the installation wizard or install the product silently. See Installing the product for more information.
- Augment existing WebSphere(R) ApplicationServerNetwork Deployment profiles to use the features of the product. See Creating and augmenting profiles for more information.
- Create a customized installation package (CIP) or an integrated installation package (IIP) if you want to install multiple installation packages. See Using the Installation Factory plug-in to create and install customized packages for more information.
- Use the latest version of the IBM Update Installer for WebSphere Software to update your product environment with maintenance packages. See Using the Update Installer to install maintenance packages for more information.
