Service Component vs. Reusable Component

What are the advantages of SOA? Why are services better than other coding approaches?

Why is it that components deployed as services are better than the way components have traditionally been used in the past?

There are a couple of advantages to services:

  1. The ease of patching code
  2. The ease of mixing implementation technologies
