Java Specification Request

A Java Specification Request (JSR) (Wikipedia) is a committe formed to develop a new Java technology, or a new version of a technology. It is also the term for the document produced by this committee to formally propose creating the technology and adding it to the family of Java products.

A JSR is run according to the procedures defined in the JCP.

Each JSR has a unique number assigned to it by the JCP organizing committee, which keeps a list of all JSRs.
